Magic props

Different specialties of magic require different scales of magic props. For example, stage illusions are distinguished by the use of large-scale props, assistants and exotic animals, and the stage itself. Platform magic is performed for a medium to a large audience and is commonly held at nightclubs or comedy clubs.  This genre includes the skillful manipulation of smaller props such as billiard balls, card fans, doves, rabbits, and rope. Escapology and similar genres require more unconventional types of magic props. Escapology refers to escaping from confinements and restraints, therefore, it would need props that inhibit movement. Handcuffs, straitjackets, cages, coffins, barrels, fish-tanks, and even burning buildings could be used to create an escape effect.
It is also quite common for practitioners to make their own magic props. Buying supplies from stores can get expensive. Also, handmade props or using unmodified items can add to your repertoire of skills. People can notice if you use only special coins or cards that you cannot perform that same trick with normal ones. Hence, it is important to research and study thoroughly how to buy or make the right supplies in order to perform at the best you can. In addition, it pays to really practice as much as possible to execute tricks flawlessly.

A common saying in the magic community is that props can make or unmake a magician. Not only does improper coordination of skills, but defective props may also contribute to the failure of a performance. Magicians should maintain his or her props no matter if they were bought or self-made. Preserving their efficiency by keeping the color, vibrancy, and beauty at the highest quality often not only enhances the show, but generates and saves money.
